You've heard it said, we are what we eat. How much truth is there in this statement? Let's take for an example, a person who is grossly over weight. We can never say always, but as a rule that person eats way too much and many of the wrong kind of foods. But we can also say that they probably don't exercise. Often they are unable to because of their weight. They probably are short of breath when they do walk, and can only go a short distance when trying. So it is not all what we eat but lack of exercise too. Check out this link:

When a person is an average weight, they eat less and usually are interested in eating a healthy diet. They feel good so they want to do exercise of some kind and often several different kinds of exercise. So does this prove we are what we eat? Not really, but it does influence what we do and says much about us.


Good Nutrition is important because when we take care of our health regarding food, we watch other things as well. This of course has exceptions as do all generalizations. The nutrition pyramid tells what we should eat. Most people say I could never eat all that is required according to the pyramid. A woman is to eat 5 fruits and vegetables servings and men 7 servings each day as an example. Can you eat that much everyday? If so, do you eat that much? Check on Google to see the rest of the food one is suppose to eat each day for their health.


I believe our food both vegetables, fruits and meat do not have the nutritional value any more due to all the chemicals they use in producing each of these. I believe supplements are necessary to take in addition to our food to maintain good health. There are wonderful Nutrition Health Articles available to us. There is a new issue that comes out every month full of articles about ways to keep healthy. They also have vitamins and supplements for different health problems. Much is written about this subject. People are wanting to stay healthy or help the problems they are having.


I am very fortunate to have good health at my age. As we age we slowly get different health problems. I have been very blessed. I take no prescriptions, but I do take supplements. I use Vitamin B-12 for energy and stress. I believe it helps me. I have always taken vitamin C and increase the amount when I feel a cold coming on. I get very few colds. I take Ginkgo Biloba for memory help as I do not like forgetting things and I do that more than I like. I take a good Multi Vitamin-Mineral for general all around help. Calcium and vitamin D for my bones. I also take Green food which gives me the extra nutrition for not getting enough green vegetables. I do stretch exercises for 30 minutes 5 days a week and walk 2 miles at least twice a week. I also read Nutrition Health Articles and keep up on the latest findings. I am always learning something.

Does stress play a large part in your life? Sadly, stress plays a large part of almost every ones life. Since nearly everyone has stress as such a large part of out lives, what can we do about it? Well there are some ways to help with this problem. One way is to boost your immune system by cleansing your body to help get rid of the toxins. Thanksgiving will soon be here and many of us will be enjoying family get togethers. This is a time to give thanks for all our blessings. But there will be many that will be feeling alone and forgotten. Times are tough this year for many people. So what ever our lot is, it is a time to reflect on all that we have and what we have been given. I hope you will agree that you can't learn too much about vitamins. I have been an avid believer in vitamins and user for years and I never tire reading of new ways to improve my health with new findings of vitamins.


A year or two ago I learned about Vitamin D. I had never been tested for this vitamin before or asked if I took this vitamin or read any articles about it. I was tested and my test results showed I was very low in Vitamin D. The Doctor prescribed 2000 mg a day. I continued with that amount until I was tested again the following year. Prior to this I was told by a Pharmacist who I valued their opinion, that if I was outside for 5 minutes a day I would receive all the Vitamin D I needed. Isn't that amazing. Much is known and written about nutrition. If you go to Google to do a search you will find much information about what a person should eat if they are an athlete, a diabetic, or an aging person. All are different as you can imagine they would be. I recently heard a dietician speak on what a person should eat and the size of their portions. I was once again amazed at the amount of food intake for each day that would ne necesary for one to eat in order to have the amount that they said was necessary to eat for a proper diet. The dietician said nothing about taking supplements. I don't believe anyone can get the full amount of nutrition by following the diet they suggest as it is far more than anyone can eat.


There are many nutrition articles written about our diet. I do not believe one can obtain the proper amount of nutrients from food alone. I believe supplements are necessary to obtain good health. There are many

I am a true believer that nutrition is very important, but I also believe that we can't get the nutrition we need from the food we buy, like perhaps was possible a long time ago. I believe in order to get the best nutrition available, it is necessary to take supplements. The reason being is that many pesticides and insecticides are used in the growing of our fruits and vegetables. There are also preservatives put on the fruits and vegetables to make it possible to stay fresh longer. The soil they grow in has been depleted of nourishment from chemicals etc. to make them grow faster and larger and the story continues on. Our food no longer contains the nutrients it had before all this came to past.


But how do you choose what supplements to take and what company should you choose to buy from? There are many good companies and products on the market. A Health Related Article on Osteoporosis,


Osteoporosis is a dreaded bone disease that is a medical condition that most people are aware of but not everyone does what is needed to avoid having. This condition is when the density and health of the bone tissue drops to a dangerously low level. It develops when bone resorption occurs too quickly and replacement occurs too slowly.


As we age, our bones become thinner and fractures often occur. The National Osteoporosis Foundation says that 10 million North American people have osteoporosis and 80% are women. (One in 2 women and one in four men over the age of 50 will have a osteoporosis related fracture as they age). There are many health related articles on this subject. After having a hip fracture from osteoporosis, one in four people will die within a year. (Men are two times as likely to die as women.) One in four will become invalids requiring long term care. Only one third will heal and return to a normal life.


What are bones made of?

According to a health related article I have found says that bone is a living growing tissue. It is made up of collagen and calcium phosphate. This combination of calcium and collagen is what makes bones strong, yet flexible to stand stress. More that 99% of the calcium in our bodies is in our bones and teeth. The rest is in our blood organs and muscles.


Throughout our lifetime, old bone is removed and new bone is added. During teen years our bones grow new faster and the old is lost and our bones become larger. The bone formation peaks at about age 30 and then it slowly begins to lessen. For women, after menopause bone loss increases rapidly. Check on page 15 in the October Journal in the health related article for ways to help this situation.


Calcium is usually prescribed or encouraged for women to take during their mid years before menopause. Then increased sufficiently after menopause. It is important to do everything you can to avoid getting osteoporosis as it is a painful, debilitating condition and dreaded to have, as it takes over your life.

A Health Related Article about Women's Health



This is a health related article on Women’s Health and how you can obtain better treatment in ER while having a heart attack. This information can save your life.


The life expectancy of a woman is now 79 years of age. We have come a long ways at increasing our life expectancy in the last 100 years for at that time women's life expectancy was 47 years. It sounds like we have done a lot of things right to be able to have gained those 37 years. If we are to continue to build more life expectancy years, we must take a look at the problems and challenges that we now face with Women's Health.


Women have been put in a man’s world in many instances. Men use to have a shorter life expectancy than women, however now that is no longer true. Women now have a much higher death rate from heart attacks than men by 70%.
I have been studying about this problem in health related articles and I found that men and women have different symptoms when having a heart attack and they are still treated the same in the emergency room. So because the symptoms are different they are not recognized and the women go untreated until it is too late.


The difference is that a man is having a heart attack he feels as though there is a heavy weight sitting on his chest. He may also have shortness of breath, sweating and chest pain. When arriving at the hospital, ER automatically assumes he is having a heart attack. When the woman has a heart attack she may experience chest pain but is more likely to have an impending sense of doom, shortness of breath, fatigue and low back pain, shoulder and jaw pain. This is enough different so that ER may mistake this for a panic attack.


We need to read more Health Related Articles so we will be able to save our own lives as well as our loved ones and friends. Women have a death rate from heart attacks and heart disease 70% higher than men. Our country offers one of the best emergency medical systems in the world. So it is hard to believe that this is happening. Women's Health and chance of surviving a heart attack should be much better as one would think it would be good.
