Healthy Living

Forget The Fountain of Youth

People have been in search for the Fountain of Youth throughout the ages. This is something like searching for the way to stay young and many people do everything they can to stay as youthful as possible. To find the real way to do this will go on forever. Doctors perform surgery doing face lifts that take years of age off a person's face and tucks on other parts of the body to tighten up the sagging skin. The look of youth will always be something to strive for, and many become rich helping people to look younger of more youthful. Many procedures are taken to preserve and enhance youth. Clothing Designers are always seeking ways of designing clothes to make us look as youthful as possible.

The Fountain of Youth is a legendary spring of water that reputedly restores the youth of anyone who drinks of its waters. Florida is often said to be its location, and stories of the fountain are some of the most persistent associated with the state.

Perhaps the secret to The Fountain of Youth really is finding the right water to drink or bathe in and that will be the very thing that will work for us to stay young. However, until we do find that magical water, it should behoove us to take head to the following.

I believe there is a better way and that is through healthy aging. The center for Disease Control and Prevention report 80% of older adults have at least one chronic condition and 50% have at least two. So healthy aging is the real secret to find because healthy aging is really living with vitality instead of disability. If we have the strength and vigor to be able to do normal functions of life including love, play, work and worship we will obtain the most important things and we will be smiling and laughing while enjoying life fully.

Nutrition
To really be on the road to healthy living we need to actively participate in four things regularly.

1. Eat at least five serving of fruits and vegetables per day.

2. Supplement your diet with important nutrients such a a multiple vitamin, vitamin C and B vitamins and Omega-3. Stay away from trans fats or other fats that are unhealthy.

3. Exercise at least three times per week and five is better.

4. Get seven to eight hours sleep every night.

Nutrients are essential to healthy living. Healthy living makes healthy aging.

The vitamins and minerals are lacking in our food. Without antioxidants we would have free radicals which would cause premature aging. Vitamin C, B Vitamins and Omega-3 are necessary to add to your diet to nourish the body's system.

Exercise is vital for our health as we age. Those who exercise regularly benefit by having better balance, better weight control and most of all better vitality. The four kinds of exercise that will help our health and make us look more youthful is:
1. Endurance - This would be aerobic exercise to keep our heart and lungs strong and help our circulation.

2. Strength - This is exercise to keep our muscles strong and can be helped by lifting weights and walking.

3. Balance exercises - Stretch exercises help with balance, lengthening muscles and strength.

4. Flexibility - Bending and fitness exercises keeps the body young and vital for keeping active.

Sleep- Sleeping aides

1. Keep the room you sleep in cool and dark.

2. Find something mellow to do before retiring. Some people find reading or listening to music helpful.

3. Don't read in bed or watch TV in bed. The sleeping room needs to be where you go to sleep and your body will adapt to this more easily.

Sleep is vital to our health as it rejuvenates and repairs the body. 71/2 to 9 hours of sleep every night is recommended.

Social Involvement- Harvard School of Public Health conducted a study which showed that people that get involved and made social connections had a slower rate of memory decline than those who had fewer. So getting involved with your church and their social groups is a great way to start. People who volunteer and get involved and engaged in activities report fewer illnesses and have greater energy.

When we have others in our life we have a healthy attitude about life When we depend on how we look on the outside is superficial. When we work on the inside, taking care of ourselves, eating properly etc., we will have more energy and realize how much we have to be thankful for.

How Vitamin B-12 May Help You

Vitamin B-12 has many ways to help us have a more healthy lifestyle. Some of the B-12 studies that have been made have made headlines as of late and are pretty impressive.

Some studies have shown that Vitamin B-12 eases symptoms of congestive heart failure. Doctors prescribe different medications for this (CHF)and they have found that B-12 helps create an amino acid which studies show may be useful in treating the symptoms for (CHF). Those in the study showed significant improvement in breathing and a reduction in heart palpitations and fluid buildup.

There are also studies that suggest that vitamin B-12 can help reduce allergies caused in different seasons. The symptoms of sneezing, runny nose, itching and congestion were cut in half.

Clinical evidence supports the link between nutrients and vitamins especially Vitamin B-12 and attention deficit hyperactive disorder and mental function. There has been reduced ability to transmit nerve signals in brain tests made on children. B-12 is truly making a name for itself. No matter the age, this problem with nerve signals can lessen. Harvard Medical School has endorsed the use of Vitamin B-12 to treat memory loss caused by deficiency of this valuable vitamin and supports the findings that B-12 deficiency can be used to treat reversible causes of memory loss and may help restore lost memory. The studies have shown that the difference in ages of 65 and over as well as 26 can be B-12 deficient.

There have been studies done by the Journal of Neurology with people of low level of b-12 and they were six times more likely to have brain volume loss that those with a higher level of B-12. The is some time called brain erosion.

The vitamin B-12 that I have found to be especially helpful to me is Sublingual B-12, B-6 and Folic Acid which melt under your tongue, allowing the B vitamins to be absorbed quickly and go directly into your bloodstream which can create more energy. To learn more about this B-12 product, click on the link below. You will find articles written about B-12 and much more information on studies that have been made as well as testimonies on this product. After opening the link, click on the tab "Health Articles" for additional information.

Nutrition Health Articles

There is a great deal of concern about the problems with obesity in our country. When you read Nutrition Health Articles you know much and why the people in our country have this problem. I believe much of our weight problems stem from refined sugar and all the items that come from and contain this substance.

Most holidays use many items that are made with sugar such has candies of all kinds, pies, cakes cookies and the list goes on and on. Christmas has many candies and deserts that most people eat and think nothing of the sugar content. But Christmas is not the only Holiday that has sweets. New Years and all the snacks that we eat to celebrate the New Year with many items and drinks that contain sugar. A box of candy is the most common Valentine for Valentines day. Easter has candy of all sorts even Candy Easter eggs. These candies and deserts are so common we don't even think of how much sugar they contain.

Soda pop is also contains a high amount of sugar and many people think this is an even larger problem as they are often not thought of as containing sugar. For those who drink alcohol, the sugar content is very high as well. Many Nutrition Health articles are full of information about sugar and how bad it is for us. There is no recommended daily allowance determined as to how much one should have each day but the department of agriculture says no more that 10 grams of sugar should be consumed each day.

Taking the time to read the labels increases the time it takes to shop for groceries. First you look for the "sugar"and some times that doesn't show up so you then need to look at the "ingredients" section. Sugar comes in different forms so it is necessary to know what the names of the different forms are. They can be listed as sugar, dextrin, dextrose, corn syrup, sweetner, dehydrated cane juice, glucose, fructose, lactose, sucrose and high fructose corn syrup. This is not a complete list as there are many more making it difficult to find how much sugar is in anything. The trick is to become conscious of how many different names there are and how tricky it is to really know how much sugar you are getting in different food and drinks. So what your aim should be is to have low sugar and high protein or fiber in the foods you choose. You can get more information on this in Nutrition Health Articles.

According to Google there are a lot of people who are interested in Nutrition Health Articles. So finding information may not be the answer to the obesity problem. Maybe finding more information about reading labels is the better way to go. Making a decision to lose weight is difficult as it takes a firm commitment. But the reward for losing weight is better health in many ways. Extra weight really is hard on all our organs and makes us an easy candidate for diabetes. Check out more Nutrition Health Articles and find out additional information. Your health is or will be one day at stake.

There are many kinds of products to help with weight problems. Check out the link below and read about a shake that is so delicious you will think you are drinking a real milk shake. While there, click on the tab that says Health Articles and you will find many interesting health articles in the VitaJournal. I wish you much success in this very worth while endeavor.

You've heard it said, we are what we eat. How much truth is there in this statement? Let's take for an example, a person who is grossly over weight. We can never say always, but as a rule that person eats way too much and many of the wrong kind of foods. But we can also say that they probably don't exercise. Often they are unable to because of their weight. They probably are short of breath when they do walk, and can only go a short distance when trying. So it is not all what we eat but lack of exercise too. Check out this link:
Nutrition Health Articles.

When a person is an average weight, they eat less and usually are interested in eating a healthy diet. They feel good so they want to do exercise of some kind and often several different kinds of exercise. So does this prove we are what we eat? Not really, but it does influence what we do and says much about us.

Good Nutrition is important because when we take care of our health regarding food, we watch other things as well. This of course has exceptions as do all generalizations. The nutrition pyramid tells what we should eat. Most people say I could never eat all that is required according to the pyramid. A woman is to eat 5 fruits and vegetables servings and men 7 servings each day as an example. Can you eat that much everyday? If so, do you eat that much? Check on Google to see the rest of the food one is suppose to eat each day for their health.

I believe our food both vegetables, fruits and meat do not have the nutritional value any more due to all the chemicals they use in producing each of these. I believe supplements are necessary to take in addition to our food to maintain good health. There are wonderful Nutrition Health Articles available to us. If you click on Nutrition Health Articles and then go to the tab that says Health Articles, you will see the Journal. There is a new issue that comes out every month full of articles about ways to keep healthy. They also have vitamins and supplements for different health problems. They do not say they cure anything but you can try what others have taken and have had success with different health problems.

Whether you have some health problem or not you will find different things that will be beneficial to you. They are worth checking out each article to get different kind of information that you will find helpful. There are Nutrition Health Articles in many other places too. Much is written about this subject. People are wanting to stay healthy or help the problems they are having.

I am very fortunate to have good health at my age. As we age we slowly get different health problems. I have been very blessed. I take no prescriptions, but I do take supplements. I use Vitamin B-12 for energy and stress. I believe it helps me. I have always taken vitamin C and increase the amount when I feel a cold coming on. I get very few colds. I take Ginkgo Biloba for memory help as I do not like forgetting things and I do that more than I like. I take a good Multi Vitamin-Mineral for general all around help. Calcium and vitamin D for my bones. I also take Green food which gives me the extra nutrition for not getting enough green vegetables. I do stretch exercises for 30 minutes 5 days a week and walk 2 miles at least twice a week. I also read Nutrition Health Articles and keep up on the latest findings. I am always learning something.

I want to encourage you to read these Nutrition Health Articles and check where you may need a boost to improve your health. Also find a way to exercise in a way you enjoy. You will feel better and even look better too.

To your good health

Thanksgiving will soon be here and many of us will be enjoying family get togethers. This is a time to give thanks for all our blessings. But there will be many that will be feeling alone and forgotten. Others will have such tight budgets due to the loss of their home or to have just taken bankruptcy, that they will have a hard time feeling thankful. What they will be thinking about is probably what they don't have.

Times are tough this year for many people. So what ever our lot is, it is a time to reflect on all that we have and what we have been given. If we are so fortunate to have good health, we are wealthy. If we have some health problems, but nothing serious, we are still wealthy. The point is we can be thankful for what we have, and not focus on what we don't have.

Our health is where our real wealth is. We want to value it to the fullest and give thanks. Thankfulness and gratitude are the best mind set for receiving good health. Stress is the hardest thing on our health. If it is true that 95% of all illness is caused from stress, we need to do something to get rid of the stress in our lives as fast as we can. By taking time to read Nutritional Health Articles you will find a way to deal with stress. Click on the link above and look for the tab, Health Articles. This will bring you to the issues of the Journal, where you will find much help.
